About Orok
We have the vision that airports will be fully automatized in upcoming years, so that planes can land and takeoff with no human on ground. We are developing a solution gathering an artificial intelligence on a server to drive a fleet of autonomous vehicles. Our solution allows better working conditions, reduces accidents and improves reliability, along with reducing carbon footprint.

Founded in 2018, OROK is a french startup accelerated by the prestigious Ecole Polytechnique. OROK co-founders are both laureates from Réseau Entreprendre and our project won the first prize of ADP Cargo challenge in startup category (2020). More recently, we were accompanied by Leonard, the prospective and innovation platform of VINCI.

Job Description
1- The mission

The plan is to build a handsome new outdoor mobile robot from scratch. Our product is something between an A.G.V. and an autonomous car. An experimentation is planned this summer on a first prototype (can’t wait to be there!). You will participate to the development of the next prototype generation and its iterations.
2- Our Target

3– The intership program

We have many topics to propose from low level development to highest abstraction layers : build our linux, interface, our new motor controllers, analyse 3D cam data, prevent collisions, localise the robot, calibrate the robot, communicate with a base-station.

A startup is a very dynamic environment, we are open to all ideas, you will be a key part of our project and you can define your activities with us. You will be part of the R&D team and, consequently, be part of all the different activities and daily life of the team.
Preferred Experience
4- Ideal Profile
Diploma / Experience

1 or 2 applications coding experience (please provide source code)
BAC+4 or more with embedded courses (transport industry, robotics)
You already have a professional experience (internship, freelance)
Python and/or C and/or C++ dev

Considered as a plus (or depending on your topic) :

Participation in a robotic contest and/or robotics geek
ROS and/or OROCOS framework knowledge
Python and/or Linux and/or FreeRtos knowledge
HW/Driver development knowledge
Strong mathematical formalisation skill
Cloud points analysis knowledge
Motion control knowledge
Agile practices and continious integration/buildfarm knowledge
Functional safety notions
UML or equivalent System Modelling knowledge

Work-study program can be either in French or English.
5- The good things about this internships

You will be supervised by an experienced embedded system architect with a specialisation in mobile robotics and system architecture.
The full development is delegated, not only the boring stuff!
Test your creations in real, this is not a simulation only work-study program!
